Form the progressive verb tenses

📝 Progressive Verb Tenses ⏳💫

Progressive (also called continuous) verb tenses are used to show actions that are ongoing or in progress.

They are formed using:

“to be” + main verb + -ing 🏃‍♂️🎨

Shows an action happening now.

Structure:

  • am / is / are + verb-ing

Examples:

  • I am reading a book. 📖
  • She is painting a picture. 🎨
  • They are playing football. ⚽

Tip: Use “am” with I, is with he/she/it, are with we/you/they.

Shows an action that was happening in the past.

Structure:

  • was / were + verb-ing

Examples:

  • I was watching TV when you called. 📺
  • They were laughing at the joke. 😂

Tip: Use was with I/he/she/it, were with we/you/they.

Shows an action that will be happening in the future.

Structure:

  • will be + verb-ing

Examples:

  • I will be studying at 8 PM tonight. 📚🌙
  • She will be traveling to Paris next week. ✈️🗼

  • -ing = ongoing action
  • “to be” changes with tense and subject
  • Use present progressive for now, past progressive for the past, future progressive for later. 🕒
