Add the times to find the total elapsed time.
1 h + 1 h 15 min = 2 h 15 min
Now find 2 hours and 15 minutes before 1:15 P.M.
Count back by hours to find 2 hours before 1:15 P.M. This is 11:15 A.M.
Now subtract 15 minutes from 11:15 A.M. This is 11:00 A.M.
Sally’s soccer camp started at 11:00 A.M.
🔔 Clayton flew from Boston to Orlando with a stop in Atlanta to switch planes. His first flight left Boston at 8:15 A.M. and was 3 hours and 45 minutes long. Clayton was in Atlanta for 30 minutes, and his flight from Atlanta to Orlando was 45 minutes long. What time was it when Clayton landed in Orlando?
Add the times to find the total elapsed time.
3 h 45 min + 30 min + 45 min = 5 h
Now find 5 hours after 8:15 A.M.
Add 5 hours to 8:15 A.M. This is 1:15 P.M.
It was 1:15 P.M. when Clayton landed in Orlando.
🔔 Yesterday, Erica went to see a special exhibit at an art museum. she left her house at 7:45 A.M. It took Erica 30 minutes to walk to the subway station. Erica rode the subway for 15 minutes and then walked 15 minutes to the art museum. What time did Erica arrive at the art museum?
Add the times to find the total elapsed time.
30 min + 15 min + 15 min = 60 min = 1 h
Now find 1 hour after 7:45 A.M.
Add 1 hour to 7:45 A.M. This is 8:45 A.M.
Erica arrived at the art museum at 8:45 A.M.
